Winter sports, yay!

Skiing, tobogganing, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, no matter what your passion is, the snow-covered peaks of the Catinaccio-Latemar will shine bright around you. In Val d'Ega you are in the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites with two of its most beautiful ski areas: the Latemar ski centre with Obereggen, Pampeago and Predazzo and the Carezza/Karersee ski arena. A little tip: with the Valle Silver ski pass or the combined ticket, you can experience both ski areas with just one pass. Enjoy and have fun!

Ski Centre Latemar Obereggen

The largest ski area between Predazzo, Pampeago and Obereggen. The breathtaking heights can be reached from all three villages. 50 kilometres of perfectly groomed pistes, from easy to spectacular, including the Latemar Sixpack, where you can work out your abs at the same time as you ski down. There is also a snow park, toboggan runs, the Alpine Coaster and a kids park.

Winter sports in the Carezza ski area

40 is the golden number: that's exactly how many kilometres of slopes - from blue to black - are waiting for you. In the Carezza ski area, the level of difficulty increases with the altitude. The advantage? You'll be skiing at your favourite altitude with other skiers, who are at the same level. There are 13 lifts that take you to your favourite piste. There are also ski schools, kids areas, ski rental, a snow park and plenty of mountain huts.

Fun on the toboggan runs

On a sledge in the Dolomites

If you want to whizz through the Dolomite panorama, try a sledge. You'll be flying down the toboggan run in no time. Obereggen and Carezza ski areas have three toboggan runs of different lengths. If you don't have your own sledge, you can hire one from the ski rental centres in Carezza and Obereggen. There is also an option of tobogganing under the stars.

In the Val d'Ega you will find a variety of rewarding off-piste ski tours and plenty of opportunities for snowshoeing on winter trails. Once you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic vistas over the Eggental valley. Please note: Piste tours are strictly prohibited in the Carezza and Obereggen ski areas. But don't worry, we'll show you where your ski touring heart can beat faster in Val d'Ega.

Cross-country skiing in Val d'Ega

On the trail of winter happiness

If you have brought your cross-country skiing equipment, you've made the right decision. There are plethora of cross-country trails in the immediate vicinity: trail in Deutschnofen (25 km) with views of the mountain peaks of the Rosengarten-Latemar region, the quiet, sunny trail in Petersberg (10 km), the trails in Weißhorn and Schwarzhorn up to the Lavazéjoch (over 80 km) or the Karerpass trail directly below the Rosengarten with uninterrupted views of the Latemar (16 km). Step by step through the crunching snow. There are many rewarding routes and cross-country trails in our region: Loops and panoramic trails, tour around Lake Carezza and many more. It's especially nice when you know there is a price in a form of South Tyrolean specialities waiting for you at your destination. Whether at the Panoramahütte Oberholz at a dizzying height of 2096 metres, or on an easily accessible winter hike to the Mayrl Hütte - there's something for everyone.

Winter excursion to Bolzano

South Tyrol's provincial capital of Bolzano is only 15 kilometres away. A day trip is particularly worthwhile during the Advent season, when you can visit numerous Christmas markets. The charming old town centre attracts visitors with its picturesque alleyways, historic buildings and lively squares. There are also many boutiques, markets and shops that offer local products and handicrafts. The city also offers plenty of culinary delights.

Frozen Fun: Ice skating

Skate, spin, dance. Or be brave and try something new. Who likes in winter elegantly or at least ambitiously glide in the ice, he/she can do so on the ice rinks in Eggental valley. There are three of them: the ice rink in Deutschnofen, in Steinegg and in Welschnofen. Lots of fun for all ice princes and princesses.
